An instance of court. Part of the court system of England and Wales. The High Court hears civil cases for amounts greater than 15,000 pounds, and also serves as a civil and criminal appellate court for cases from the subordinate courts (e.g. instances of county court). The High Court is based at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London, but also sits as District Registries all across England and Wales.
