African language of the West Atlantic sub-group, spoken by people of the Serer in Senegal, The Gambia and in the Kingdom of Biffeche. There are several mutually-unintelligible variants spoken in Senegal, like Serer-Sine, Serer-Safer, the Serer Ndut (Sereer Mont-Roland), etc.
