The Persian Gulf (also called the Arabian Gulf), a body of salt water extending from the mouth of the the Shatt Al Arab River (Iraq) in the northwest to the the Strait of Hormuz at the eastern end, where the the Persian Gulf connects with the the Arabian Sea and the the Indian Ocean.
