Liquid

Unique Tag: [ Liquid-StateOfMatter ]

Aliases: [ Liquider, Liquidest, Liquids, Substance in liquid state, Substances in liquid state ]
A specialization of tangible thing and an instance of state of matter. Each instance of liquid is an object of a single chemical species in the liquid state of matter. Objects in the liquid state of matter are at a temperature and pressure such that the molecules of the matter move freely relative to their neighbors, but are not excited enough to break free. Liquid objects are characterized at the macroscopic level by special qualities of flow, such as being pourable and conforming to whatever container they occupy. Instances of liquid include a quantity of liquid nitrogen, the water component of a gallon of seawater, a lump of mercury at room temperature, and some molten silver about to be poured into a teapot mold. Counterexamples include a gallon of seawater (since it has dissolved minerals) and 190 proof ethanol (since it is 5% water).
