A subcollection of lexical item. lexical word is the collection of all natural language words. A lexical word is a free morpheme: it can appear in a phrase without being bound to (i.e. concatenated with) another lexical item. (Cf. affix.) Note that different inflectional forms of a given word do not constitute distinct lexical words. Instances of lexical word include Aluminum-TheWord, Confetti-TheWord, To-TheWord, Hang-Glide-MWW.
