An instance of independent country. India is a country in southern Asia whose territory constitutes most of the Indian subcontinent (q.v.). India is bounded on the north by Bhutan, Tibet, and China, on the northwest by Pakistan, on the east by Myanmar, on the southeast by the the Bay of Bengal, and on the southwest by the the Arabian Sea.
