A specialization of information. Each instance of field of study is a particular area of study, with its own distinctive set of theories, hypotheses, and problems. Instances of field of study are typically the subject of teaching and/or research within instances of academic department (q.v.), although one academic department may cover several instances of field of study. Instances of field of study include art history, physics, and artificial intelligence.
