Ditransitive NP NP Frame

Unique Tag: [ DitransitiveNP-NPFrame ]

This frame is used for words that take exactly two NP complements, where one NP plays the role of direct object and the other the role of indirect object. Example: 'Fred gave Sally a book'. One salient way in which this frame is distinguished from Ditransitive NP NP Obj Complement Frame is that the former undergoes DoubleObjectAlternations, while the latter does not. Example: 'Fred gave Sally a book' alternates with 'Fred gave a book to Sally' but 'Fred called Sally a liar' does not -- *'Fred called a liar of Sally'.
